PM CARES Fund

The Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM CARES Fund) was created on March 28, 2020. The PM Narendra Modi is the chairman of the Fund. It was promoted by the Prime Minister of India (ex-officio chairman). The Trustee of the PM CARES Fund are:

  • Amit Shah (Minister of Home Affairs),
  • Nirmala Sitharaman (Minister of Finance),
  • Rajnath Singh (Minister of Defence).

The Main aim of PM CARES Fund is to collect money to fight against CoVID-19 Pandemic. This Fund will be used for Corona Treatment,  Medical Centre to make Medicines of virus, and provide “Rasan” to poor people. The PM stated that the whole fund will be used for saving our country from the Disaster Management of CoVID-19 Pandemic.The PM CARES Fund has dedicated to the pandemic situation caused by CoVID-19.  During the lift or extent of LockDown, there were many poor people who had suffered from poverty. So, the Government Officially declared that the whole amount is used for critical situations.

According to the PM Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Office had received many requests to help in the difficult situation of CoVID-19 Pandemic. The PM CARES Fund accepts the minimum donation is Rs. 10. The whole donation will be free from tax and keep it under the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). The Supreme Court refused the plea of Public Interest Litigation (PIL) which was filed against the forming of the PM CARES Fund for CoVID-19. For Fund security concerns, all the details of the donation will be shown at the website of PM CARES Fund. There are following modes of payment to donate in the PM CARES Fund as:

  • Internet Banking (By Any Bank),
  • UPI Collect Requests,
  • NEFT/RTGS.

All the participation to donate is on the Voluntary basis in the PM CARES Fund. ICICI Banks has given the contribution as the collecting banking partner which is authorised by the government.Account details are provided for contribution to PM CARES Funds are following:

Citizens and Organisations who want to contribute to the PM CARES Fund, they can go to the official site pmcares.gov.in and follow the steps of donation.There are many Banks, Businessmen and Organisations who have donated in the PM CARES Fund. We will also get the Receipt of the contribution in CARES Fund.  PM CARES Fund has collected at least Rs. 9,677.9 crore from many government sectors, private sectors and individually.

  • Government Organisations and Staff has been donated Rs. 4,308.3 crore.
  • Private Sector has donated Rs. 5369.5 crore and so, the pledge amount is Rs. 772.4 crore.
  • Foreign has donated Rs. 22 crore and all amounts are pledged.
  • 53.77 crore has been donated by citizens individually.

Pledge amount has been kept under the CSR for further usage in the war of CoVID-19. The deep details of the PM CARES Fund have not been publicly published.

Approximately, Rs. 2,000 crore has been issued for setup 50,000 ventilators throughout India. Rs.1,000 crore has been issued for immigrant people and  Rs. 100 crore for medical centres to make vaccines for CoVID-19. During the breakdown of CoVID Pandemic, there are many workers who have been struggling to reach their homes.So, some funds have been issued for providing facilities to the convenience of struggling workers. So, Many fake id have developed after making the CARES Fund sites. Then, PMO declared the Official Websites for protection from fraud sites. CAG will not be allowed to audit the fund because it was based on donations of individuals and organisations. PM CARES Fund is a relief effort in the war of CoVID-19 Pandemic to fight against it. It has been held by the Appellate Authority of the PMO under the Right to Information Act 2005. PM CARES Fund is totally different from PM National Relief Fund because it’s only created for CoVID-19 pandemic.

The PM Narendra Modi has done a lot of efforts to fight against the CoVID-19 pandemic situation. So, PM CARES Fund is one of the efforts of the prime minister of India to handle the worst situation which occurred due to a pandemic situation. Many worst situations encourage the people to contribute their efforts towards fighting against pandemic situations. PM CARES Fund is likely a public charitable trust which helps the move out from these situations.
