“N Sivaraman appointed as the MD & CEO of ICRA”

  • The board of ICRA Ratings on Tuesday announced the appointment of N Sivaraman, formerly with L&T Finance Holdings & IL&FS as its MD & Group CEO
  • He will replace Naresh Takkar, former MD & Group CEO whose service was terminated in August 2019
  • Sivaraman will drive ICRA Group’s business strategy and innovation, build organizational capabilities, nurture ICRA’s strong culture of analytical excellence, strengthen the independence and objectivity of ICRA’s ratings and enhance the company’s thought leadership
  • Sivaraman will join ICRA on August 10, 2020.
  • During his 34-year career at L&T, he held senior positions including as President & Wholetime Director of L&T Finance Holdings.

“Hardik Satishchandra appointed Personal Secretary to PM Modi”

  • Hardik Satishchandra Shah was appointed Private Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday
  • Shah is a 2010-batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre and is currently serving as a Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO)
  • According to the order, Shah has been appointed on co-terminus basis.

“Health Minister releases e-book to tackle substance abuse”

  • Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan today released e-book on Standard Treatment Guidelines for the Management of Substance Use Disorders and Behavioural Addictions.
  • The e-book aims to tackle substance abuse and behavioral addiction in the country.
  • The Minister spoke about the harmful association of Substance Use with non-communicable disorders like cardiovascular, cancer, road traffic injury, as well as mental health.

“Guwahati Municipal Corporation launches manhole cleaning robot ‘BANDICOOT’”

  • GDD minister, Siddhartha Bhattacharya, on July 28, inaugurated the first-ever manhole cleaning robot of Guwahati and the entire northeast, at Dispur.
  • The robot named ‘BANDICOOT’ has been procured by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) along with six Skid Steer Loaders (mini loaders) from JCB and six Backhoe Loaders from CASE and BOBCAT companies each.
  • The BANDICOOT robot is also the first of its kind in the world that was developed by a Start-up India company called Genrobotics under the Make in India initiative, funded by CSR of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).
  • Guwahati is the third city in the entire country to procure this innovative technology to clean manholes after Gurugram and Coimbatore.

“Renowned Folk musician Sonam Tshering Lepcha passes away”

  • Folk musician and Padma Shri awardee Sonam Tshering Lepcha passed away at Kalimpong on Thursday due to old age ailments
  • He was 92.
  • He passed away this morning due to age-old ailments in Kalimpong. He suffered a cardiac arrest
  • He is survived by two wives and several children.
  • Lepcha was born in Kalimpong in 1928 and started his career as a soldier.
  • He travelled to various parts of Sikkim and complied a wide range of Indian folk and traditional Lepcha songs and played folk music on All India Radio in 1960.
  • He was awarded the Padma Shri for his contribution in the field of folk music.

“Cabinet approves MoU between India and Zimbabwe on Traditional Medicine”

  • The Cabinet on Wednesday gave ex-post facto approval to an agreement between India and Zimbabwe on cooperation in the field of traditional systems of medicine and homeopathy.
  • The MoU, which was signed on November 3, 2018 and approved by the Cabinet on Wednesday, aims to provide a framework for cooperation between the two countries for the promotion of traditional systems of medicine and homeopathy
  • The main objective of the MoU is to strengthen, promote and develop co-operation in traditional medicine systems between the two countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefit

“First helicopter service by Pawan Hans in Uttarakhand flagged off”

  • Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri today flagged off the first helicopter service by Pawan Hans in Uttarakhand under the UDAN-RCS scheme
  • launch of the heli service and opening of these new routes will bring people of the state closer and support tourism in the region.
  • This service will enable connectivity between Dehradun, New Tehri, Srinagar and Gauchar.
  • Commencement of the new heli services will enhance the aerial connectivity between hilly regions in Uttarakhand and bring down the average travel time to 20-25 minutes.
  • This will also assist the Chaar Dhaam Yatra pilgrims. Pawan Hans Ltd. will operate thrice-weekly helicopter services on this route.
