SSC JHT eligibility criteria 2020: Nationality

Candidates must be either

A citizen of India, or

A subject of Nepal, or

A subject of Bhutan, or

A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or

A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries such as Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Candidates who have come from the above-mentioned countries must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of an examination. Or

The eligibility criteria for this post code is the same as A to D except the year of experience. For this post, candidates must have recognised diploma or certificate course in translation from Hindi to English and Vice Versa or three years’ experience of translation work from Hindi to English and Vice Versa in Central or State Government Office, including Government of India Undertaking.

SSC JHT 2020 Exam Pattern

SSC JHT 2020 exam pattern is such that it is divided into two papers: Paper 1 and 2. Paper 1 is held in computer-based mode whereas Paper 2 is held in offline mode. Paper 1 comprises objective type multiple-choice questions. Questions in the paper are asked from two sections. The paper I of SSC JHT is divided into two sections: General English and General Hindi. The questions are designed to test candidate’s understanding of languages, literature and correct use of words, phrases and idioms and the ability to write the languages correctly, precisely and effectively. The questions will be of degree level. Total marks of the test are 100. Candidates will be given 2 hours to complete the paper. Paper 1 will consist of Objective Type Multiple choice questions only. SSC JHT Exam Pattern 2019 for Paper 2

Paper 2 is conducted for the qualified candidates of Paper I. The Paper 2 is a conventional type paper and is conducted offline. The paper comprises questions from Translation and Essay. Total marks allotted to the test are 200. The exam is held for 2 hours. This paper will contain two passages for translation (one passage for translation from Hindi to English and other passage for translation from English to Hindi) and an Essay each in Hindi and English.

SSC JHT 2020 Marking Scheme

· For wrong answers in Paper 1, 0.25 marks will be deducted as penalty.

· For correct answers, candidates will score 1 mark.

· The score of candidates will be calculated based on the number of correct and incorrect answers.

What is normalisation of marks?

SSC has decided to normalize SSC JHT scores of candidates to take into account any variation in the difficulty levels of the question papers across different shifts since the exam is conducted in multiple sessions. The normalization is done based on the fundamental assumption that in multi-shift exam, the distribution of abilities of candidates is the same across all the shifts. Calculation of marks will be done up to 5 decimal places

Selection process of SSC JHT 2020

The complete selection process of SSC JHT is explained below: 

Filling the application form: SSC JHT application form 2020 will be released online on the official website. The application form comprises two parts: Part I (One-Time Registration) and Part II (Filling the application form). The application fees are Rs 100 and can be paid both online and offline. Women/SC/ST/ESM candidates are exempted from fee payment. 

Release of Admit Card: SSC JHT admit card is released online separately for Paper 1 and 2. The admit card will be released two weeks before the exam on the respective regional websites of the commission. To download the admit card, candidates need to enter the required details. 

Appearing in the entrance exam: The entrance exam is conducted in two stages: Paper 1 and 2. Based on the marks scored in Paper 1, candidates will be shortlisted category-wise to appear in Paper 2. On the basis of the performance in Paper 1 and Paper 2, candidates will be shortlisted for Document Verification. The final allocation is done based on the merit-cum-preference. 

Declaration of result: SSC JHT result is announced online on the official website. The result will be available in PDF form. SSC JHT result will display the roll numbers of qualified candidates. 

SSC JHT Exam Centres 2020

The exam of SSC Junior Hindi Translator will be conducted in over 50 cities. While filling the application form, candidates are required to indicate three  SSC JHT exam centres as per their preferences. SSC reserves the right to allot exam centres to candidates. The address of the exam centres is mentioned on the admit card. 

SSC JHT 2020 Notification

SSC JHT 2020 notification is scheduled to be released by the end of June or first week of July. The notification will carry all information related to the exam. Candidates will find details such as dates, vacancies, eligibility criteria, application process, exam pattern, syllabus, etc. SSC JHT 2020 notification which was scheduled to be released on April 17 was delayed to COVID-19 and nation-wide lockdown. With the relaxation in the lockdown norms, SSC had announced the exam dates.

SSC JHT 2019-20 Result 

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced SSC JHT 2019-20 result for Paper 2 on June 16. Along with the result, the cut off for Paper 2 has also been released. On the basis of SSC JHT result 2019-20 for Paper 2, a total of 1,360 candidates have qualified provisionally for document verification. The marks of Paper 1 ha also been considered while selecting candidates for document verification. SSC JHT Paper 2 exam was conducted on February 16, 2020. SSC JHT Paper 2 result is available on the official website of the commission in PDF form. The result PDF contains roll numbers, categories, and names of qualified candidates. A minimum qualifying marks of 30% for UR, 25% for OBC/EWS, and 20% for others have been applied to calculate the Paper 2 marks. 

SSC JHT 2019-20 final result will be announced after the completion of document verification. The final selection of candidates will be done on the basis of Paper 1 and 2 and the preference of posts/departments given by them at the time of document verification. SSC JHT 2019-20 result for Paper 1 was declared on January 29, 2020. The exam was conducted on November 26, 2019. A total of 1,977 candidates were declared qualified for appearing in Paper 2. 

SSC JHT 2020 result for Paper 1 will be announced in December. SSC JHT 2020 Paper 1 will be conducted on October 6. The marks of both qualified and non-qualified candidates are released a few days after the declaration of result. Candidates can check their individual marks by entering their registration number and password.

SSC JHT 2020 admit card is released two weeks before the exam by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) separately for Paper 1 and 2.
