GATE EE 2020
GATE is an online national level examination conducted for Master of Engineering (ME), Masters in Technology (MTech) and direct PhD admissions to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and other institutes/universities across India. The exam is jointly conducted by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee and Indian Institute for Science, Bangalore (IISC Bangalore), on a rotational basis on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB - GATE), Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource & Development (MHRD), Government of India.
IIT Delhi, the exam conducting authority for GATE 2020, announced the dates related to the exam on July 9, 2019. GATE 2020 will be held on February 1, 2, 8 and 9 next year. However, the online registration for GATE 2020 was started from August 31, 2019, and the last date to apply for it was September 28. GATE 2020 registration was an online process and the last date for the same was September 28 without late fee and October 5 with the late fee.

However, the candidates who possess certification from any of the professional societies must ensure that those examinations conducted by the societies are approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch.
GATE eligibility for international students

Must have completed or are in the final year of their Bachelor’s degree (duration: at least four years) in Engineering/Technology, or
- Must have completed or are in the final year of their Post Graduate (Master’s) degree (duration: at least two years) in any relevant science subject.
Eligibility Documents:
- If a candidate has already passed (in 2018 or earlier) one of the qualifying examinations mentioned above, they have to submit (i.e. upload) the degree certificate/provisional certificate/course completion certificate issued by the institute.
- If the candidate is in the final year of any of the qualifying examinations mentioned above, they have to upload a Certificate from the Head of the Department/Institute
GATE 2020 Application Form
IIT Delhi had made available the GATE 2020 application form online from August 31, 2019. The last date to register for GATE 2020 through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) was September 28, 2019. The last date for application form filling with late fee of Rs 500 was October 5. The GATE 2020 online application submission included steps such as registration, entering essential information like contact, academic and personal details, uploading of photograph, and payment of application fee. Candidates were advised to fill the correct and verifiable information in the GATE 2020 application form. Application forms with wrong information were rejected by the exam conducting authority.

Registration: Candidates were required to register for GATE 2020 before filling the application form. For registration, candidates have to enter details like name, valid email id, country of residence and mobile number. The candidate also had to choose a password for future log-in. An enrolment number for every candidate was generated after the successful registration.
Filling the form: The GATE 2020 application form had sections like – personal, academic and contact details. Candidates had to enter the details in the essential fields of each section, choose the GATE paper they will be appearing in, and select three exam centres.
Uploading photographs: Scanned images of photograph, signature and category certificate (if admission is sought under a particular category) had to be uploaded in the prescribed format.
Application fee payment: The application fee varied on the gender and category of candidates. Application fee for general male candidates was Rs 1500 and for female and reserved category candidates, it was Rs 750. The application fee could be paid in online mode only via net banking, credit or debit cards.

How to change examination city for GATE 2020?

Step 1: Visit GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) website - http://appsgate.iitm.ac.in/
- Step 2: Login to your account with your Enrollment ID/Email Address, Password and Captcha
- Step 3: Click on Change Examination City
- Step 4: After making changes to GATE 2020 examination city, you need to make a payment of Rs 500
Choice of examination city: The candidate can choose three cities from the list of examination cities given in the above table. The first and second choices must be from the same GATE zone and the third choice can be from any GATE zone.
If a candidate chooses a particular city (in a particular zone) as the first choice, then they will be able to choose the city of the second choice only from that particular zone. However, the third choice can be from any one of the listed cities (i.e., no restriction on the zone for the third choice city). Note that, because of the operational constraints, the GATE Committee reserves the right to add a new city or remove an existing one, and allot a city that may not be from any of the choices selected by the candidate.
