Cabinet Ministers of India

The head of the Republic of India is the prime minister. Union Cabinet is a group of central ministries headed by the prime minister. Cabinet minister is the minister of key portfolios of the government. The highest decision making body in India is Union Cabinet, they can give suggestions to prime minister and vice versa.

Cabinet ministers are a part of Council of Ministers. Cabinet ministers are responsible to implement the decisions & directives taken by the prime minister.

The head of cabinet minister i.e., prime minister of India is Mr. Narendra Modi at present.

Functions of Cabinet Minster: –

  • They present bills from their respective departments.
  • They direct policies & makes decisions on national issues.
  • They have the power to pass laws in both the houses. Also, they have the power to reject a bill from becoming the law.
  • In financial matters, cabinet is responsible to make final decision. The preparation of annual budget, implementation of taxes etc. are done by cabinet ministers.
  • They also work to strengthen the security of country, improve foreign affairs of the country & maintain the economy of the country.
  • They implement the decision & directives of government policies.
